Updated Portraits for Bachelorettes

Firnin's initial design was meant to be a combination between a jellyfish and the the sea. In her concept design, she is seen sporting a flowy mermaid type skirt. This is something that can't be translated well in the portrait. Instead, I changed her hair a bit to give the feeling of waves through her hair. I also opted to use a dangling earring as opposed to a tropical flower clip. The new look also gives her a more mature vibe suited for her character.

Koloa's design was by far one of the most popular and highly anticipated when I first posted the lineup of female characters. Her concept design showed off an elegant yellow and orange sunny aesthetic on a body type that is often associated with Greek Goddesses. Her hair was the one aspect of the design I did not want to compromise. I was happily able to translate most of her design elements well, and also improve the design of her top.

Ozzy is a personal favorite of mine. The contrast between her skin and hair is a design choice I love to see in other media. Her character is also unique for having a robotic arm, and I wanted to give her that cool and independent look about her. Her new design also does away with the bandana as I gave more shape to her hair, and chose to let her wear suspenders, appropriate for her design and occupation. Here is her concept design for reference.

Although I said Ozzy was a personal favorite, I would be lying if I didn't say I was biased towards Yiressa. She has always been my favorite among the girls the moment I finished her concept design. Perhaps because of her bubbly personality or her big helix curls, or simply because she's just heckin' adorable, but I really wanted her to stand out in her portrait as she did in my eyes. The puffer jacket had to go, it didn't work no matter what I did. O also gave her ribbon earrings and puffy clips. I think it overall suits her well.

I am proud of the improvement I've made in just one year and I can't wait to show how much the other girls' portraits have improved or will improve from today. I still have 4 more girls to revise, and I am hoping for the same wonderful results.
